Crossing Borders offers a “Living Locally” service, by a ‘Drop-in’ or appointment system, and is available in Hungarian and English.
Users of the service can access assistance in any issue pertinent to living and settling in the UK. These have included: Emails, Phone calls, online and postal applications of all kinds, tenancy agreements,landlord issues and meetings, insurance issues, banking, overpayments, utilities bills, jobseeking, self employment, post and letters, tax self assessment, website content, proof reading and correction, flight, train and bus bookings, transferring of home country qualifications, and understanding contracts.
An important part of the Living Locally service is “signposting” users to the relevant service or organisations, providing translation and intermediary support as needed. This includes HMRC, Citizens’ Advice, the NHS, Tayside Police, PKC services and others.
